15:0-18:1 Phosphatidylinositol (PI) is a structurally defined glycerophospholipid incorporating a saturated pentadecanoic acid (15:0) at the sn-1 position and a monounsaturated oleic acid (18:1) at the sn-2 position. As a key minor lipid component of cellular membranes, PI serves critical functions in membrane architecture and as a precursor for a variety of phosphorylated derivatives involved in intracellular signaling.
