General description

Phosphatidylcholines (PCs) are amphipathic molecules, that are mainly located on the outer leaflets of the biological membrane bilayer. Approximately 40–50% of the total cellular phospholipids consists of phosphatidylcholine.
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

22:0 PC may be used:
  • to study its effects on non-amyloidogenic processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP)/α-secretase activity
  • to prepare a lipid monolayer to study whether ligand is specifically targeted to domains containing Cu(II)-iminodiacetate lipid (Cu-PSIDA)
  • as a lipid standard for the quantification of lipid species from lipid droplets by hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-high performance liquid chromatography (HILIC-HPLC)
