General description

Sphinganine-1-Phosphate (SA1P) is a bioactive lipid present in mammals. It is produced from the sphingoid base, sphinganine in the presence of sphingosine kinase (SPHK).

Application

Sphinganine-1-Phosphate (d18:0) has been used as a reference standard in ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometry. It is suitable for use as an internal standard for ultra high performance liquid chromatography for the quantification of blood and muscle sphingolipid. Sphinganine-1-phosphate (d18:0) is also suitable for use as standard in liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sphinganine-1-Phosphate (SA1P) is an important marker for cancer and immune system disorders studies. It elicits protective functionality in hepatic ischemia. Elevated levels of SA1P is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma.
