General description
One of the challenges with Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs) is effectively delivering the payload to the target cells. However, specific functional groups can be utilized to target these desirable cells, and by attaching them to a PEG lipid, researchers can facilitate drug delivery to specific cell types. By linking mannose with DSPE-PEG2K, targeted delivery to various systems can be achieved. Additionally, DSPE-PEG2k-tri mannose can be employed to specifically target tumor-associated macrophages in the liver, spleen, and lungs.
Application
DSPE-PEG2K-tri mannose is a PEG lipid commonly used to surface-functionalize lipid carriers in studies involving:
- Receptor-mediated cellular uptake by dendritic cells or macrophages
- Antigen or immune-modulating cargo delivery
- Vaccine research and immunology model development
