General description

Interleukin-12p70 (IL-12p70) is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of two subunits, IL-12p35 and IL-12p40, and is crucial for the differentiation of T cells into Th1 cells. It plays a significant role in enhancing the immune response by promoting the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) from T and NK cells, thereby enhancing the cytotoxic activity against pathogens and tumors. IL-12p70 is also involved in the regulation of various immune functions and has potential therapeutic implications in cancer and infectious diseases.

Application

Inflammatory Disease / Immune Response / Autoimmune Disease

Features and Benefits

  • Enables detection of low-abundance IL-12p70: Enables quantification of low-abundance IL-12p70, critical for studying early immune activation, Th1 polarization, and cytokine signaling in infection and autoimmunity.
  • Specificity for Biologically Active IL-12p70: Targets the heterodimeric p70 form of IL-12, not the p40 subunit or p35 alone. This provides accurate measurement of the functional cytokine, supporting mechanistic studies of T cell differentiation and IFN-γ induction.
  • Application in Autoimmune and Inflammatory Disease Research: Enables profiling of immune dysregulation and therapeutic response, especially in chronic inflammatory conditions.
  • Supports Cancer Immunotherapy and Infectious Disease Studies: Facilitates evaluation of immune activation and cytokine feedback loops in tumor microenvironments and pathogen defense.

Analysis Note

  • Sensitivity: LLOQ 100 fg/mL* (SMCxPRO® Instrument)
  • Standard Curve Range: 50-50,000 fg/mL
  • Intra-assay CV: <15%
  • Inter-assay CV: <20%
  • Linearity: Serum: 98% Plasma: 103%
  • Recovery: Serum: 103% Plasma: 97%
*Indicative LLOQ created from average of 14 independent in house runs, where >80% met same value defined with CV & Recovery +/- 20%. Refer to CoA for lot specific performance.

Other Notes

Although IL-12p70 was detectable in mouse, rat, canine, feline and monkey samples, the assay has not been verified for these species.
