General description
GFAP serves as an important biomarker for astrocyte activation and neuroinflammation. Elevated levels of GFAP in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood may indicate reactive astrogliosis, a condition often associated with brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer′s disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders.
