General description

Meat Extract Dry Powder is a nutritive substrate prepared from selected animal tissues, free from fat and sinew. It is digested through a weak proteolytic reaction using pancreatin (porcine origin) prior to extraction.
Meat extract contains a mixture of peptides, amino acids, nucleotide fractions, organic acids, minerals, and some vitamins. It is usually deployed in concentrations between 0.3-1.0% in the culture media. The usage may vary depending upon the nutritional requirements of the media formulation.

Application

Meat extract is suitable for cultivating fastidious microbes like lactic acid bacteria and anaerobes. It is often used in biochemical studies, particularly fermentation reactions.
