ATEX IIC – Novaseptic® ATEX IIC Drive Unit Product Advisory Statement -
The following product advisory statement applies if you are operating in an ATEX IIC environment (in presence of dangerous gases such as hydrogen or acetylene) and have purchased a NovAseptic® ATEX IIC Drive Unit from July 2004 until July 2016.
During our audit, it has come to our attention that protective paint on the NovAseptic® motor drive unit could be thicker than recommended ATEX IIC specification. Due to this condition, there could be a potential in building electrostatic charges on the paint surface of the motor. To eliminate the risk in ATEX IIC environment, the NovAseptic® ATEX IIC Drive Unit must be wiped only with a damp cloth.
We have notified our customer accordingly to the best of our knowledge, none of our current customers have reported us any malfunction and/or other operation related issues of NovAseptic® drive units in ATEX IIC environment for this particular condition.
We have immediately applied following corrective actions to prevent any risk on products delivered starting July 2016. All NovAseptic® Drive Units are released with a safety sticker containing cleaning instructions: “IIC environment – Potential electrostatic hazard. Clean only with a damp cloth”. Safety instructions have been included in the User Guide.
If you use a NovAseptic® ATEX IIC Drive Unit in the conditions described above, as a precautionary measure, we ask you to: Apply warning sticker on NovAseptic® Atex IIC Drive Units and follow safety cleaning instructions. Please contact nova.cert@emdmillipore.com to get the sticker or if you have any further question.
