Analyte/s:
Contains a minimum of 4 analytes present at or above the regulatory limit. Values of analytes vary lot to lot.

All information regarding the use of TCLP Semi-VOAs - PT can be found in the reporting packet which will be available to download at PT Portal.

Application

TCLP Semi-VOAs - PT is a soil/hazardous waste proficiency testing material, suitable for testing TCLP Semi - Volatiles (VOAs) in soil samples.

Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. They are designed to meet the requirements of national, regional and state-specific accreditation bodies (TNI, USEPA, UKAS) for quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Features and Benefits

We have a vast portfolio of environmental PT schemes with "fit-for-purpose" samples to help you meet the needs of the laboratory.

Our proficiency testing (PT) program is a benchmark to:

  • provide staff with an insight into their laboratory′s performance, to verify the accuracy and reliability of their testing process
  • provide a comparison of performance with that of other laboratories, nationally and internationally
  • test and educate staff, provide a better understanding of the impact of incorrect results and identify areas where there may be problems
  • provide an independent evaluation of laboratory performance
  • demonstrate to clients, colleagues and accreditation bodies that there is a commitment to quality

Preparation Note

Description

  • The organic PT sample is a soil containing TCLP extractable BNA′s/Pesticides.
  • The sample size provided is 225 g of soil.
  • The soil has been chemically stabilized to minimize the degradation of the sample.
  • The PT sample has been sized to 100 mesh.
  • Store sample at room temperature. Once opened sample should be used within 3 months or by the expiration date on the label, whichever is sooner.
  • At least two analytes are above the regulatory limit. Some analytes may not be present at a recoverable level. If an analyte is below your detection limit report less than a "<" and your detection limit, or "0".
  • The sample has been intentionally prepared with an apparent headspace.

Preparation Instructions

  • Determine the extraction fluid by carefully following the procedures as defined in SW846, 3rd Edition, Extraction Method 1311.
  • Analyze the extract using the method for which you are seeking accreditation.
  • Determine the concentration of the analytes listed and report your results in the PT portal.
  • The analysis method must also be reported.
  • If the Cresol isomers cannot be differentiated, the total Cresol amount may be reported.

NOTE: Since several analytes are present at regulatory levels, the extract may require dilution prior to analysis, it is recommended that the extract is screened prior to primary GC or GC/MS analysis. Report analyte concentration as mg/L of extract.

Storage and Stability

Please refer to sample label for expiration date, specific storage temperature, and specific storage conditions.
