All information regarding the use of PAHs in Soil - PT can be found in the reporting packet which will be available to download at PT Portal.

Application

PAHs in Soil - PT is a soils/hazardous waste proficiency testing material, suitable for testing PAHs in soil samples.

Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. They are designed to meet the requirements of national, regional and state-specific accreditation bodies (TNI, USEPA, UKAS) for quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Preparation Note

Description

  • This product consists of 4 vials, each containing 10 g of soil for analysis of PAHs. Each vial is identical and has been tested to show homogeneity. Only one vial is needed for the test. The remaining vials are to be used for multiple methods or routine testing.
  • Four samples have been provided for your convenience (multiple methods, multiple analysts, etc.)
  • The soil has been chemically stabilized with 1 mL of acetone to minimize degradation of the sample.
  • The evaluation of results will be based on study statistics as required by TNI.
  • This standard may not contain all the compounds listed on the Report Forms in accordance with TNI standards. For analytes not detected, report a zero or a ‘<′ ′ and your detection limit.
  • Store sample at room temperature. Once opened sample should be used within 3 months or by the expiration date on the label, whichever is sooner.

Sample Preparation

  • Extract the complete contents of a single vial. Transfer entire contents of one vial to extraction vessel. Rinse vial and cap with extraction solvent.
  • Note: Sample extracts and calibration solutions should be in the same solvent.
  • Analyze the Extract using the appropriate Semi-Volatile Organics method for which you are seeking accreditation.
  • Determine the concentration of the analytes listed and report your results on the organic analysis data sheet provided.
  • The method used must be reported.
  • Report all results on a wet weight basis, do not correct for moisture.
  • Assume a 10 g sample size for all calculations.

Storage and Stability

Please refer to sample label for expiration date, specific storage temperature, and specific storage conditions.
