TPH in soil - High - PT of the solids/soils hazardous waste proficiency testing scheme is suitable for testing the concentration of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in soil samples.

Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. They are designed to meet the requirements of national, regional and state-specific accreditation bodies (TNI, USEPA, UKAS) for quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Preparation Note


  • The prepared PT sample is a soil containing petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH).
  • The sample size provided is 60 g of soil.
  • The soil has been sterilized to minimize the degradation of the sample.

Sample Preparation

  • This is a two-part sample including a fortification ampule and a blank soil.
  • To prepare, weigh 10.0 g of blank soil and transfer to your extraction vessel.
  • Open ampule SPE026TXH-30G and transfer 1.0 mL of concentration using a Class A pipet to your extraction vessel. The liquid should be applied directly to the soil this will minimize evaporation losses.
  • Analyze using method TX 1005 or TX 1006.
