General description

Polycarbonate container, blue high-density polyethylene closure, white high-density polyethylene vial holder, and foam insert.

Provides the critical, repeatable, 1°C/min cooling rate required for successful cryopreservation of cells. Easy to use in any mechanical freezer. Container is imprinted with graphic instructions. Requires only isopropyl alcohol. Rigid vial holder keeps vials from contacting alcohol, preventing contamination by wicking. Vial holder floats to allow thawing in a water bath. Numbers molded for identification.

All components withstand repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Stackable.

Application

Freezing container, Nalgene Mr. Frosty may be used for freezing plant cells, protoplasts , PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cell) .

  4. How do I freeze my cells in a Nalgene® Mr. Frosty, freezing container, product C1562?

    Listed below are instructions for the Nalgene® Mr. Frosty freezing container.Fill the container with room-temperature 100% isopropyl alcohol to the indicated fill line and discard the foam insert and tube holder. Insert your sample tubes into the tube holder and place the Mr. Frosty container in -70°C freezer for a minimum of 4 hours. Remove frozen tubes and place in long term storage freezer, at or below -130°C.Note: When not in use, the Mr. Frosty container should be stored at room temperature.

  5. What is the rate of cooling of the cell suspension in Product C1562, Freezing container, Nalgene®?

    The rate of cooling of 1°C/minute is based on the use of isopropanol as the alcohol bath.

  6. Can I use Product C1562, Freezing container, Nalgene®, with 5 mL freezing vials?

    Product No. C1562 is designed for use with 1.2 and 2 mL freezing vials.  It cannot be used with 5 mL freezing vials. Nalgene no longer offers the Mr. Frosty in the 5 mLsize.
