General description
Forkhead box protein H1 (FOXh1) also known as FAST-1 contains a DNA binding TGT(G/T) motif which it uses to bind SMAD2 and regulate transcription.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of mouse FOXH1
Biochem/physiol Actions
Foxh1 is a transcriptional activator. Foxh1 can recognizes and binds to the DNA sequence 5′-TGT[GT][GT]ATT-3′ and is required for induction of the goosecoid (GSC) promoter by TGF-beta or activin signaling. Foxh1 forms a transcriptionally active complex containing FAST-1/SMAD2/SMAD4 on a site on the GSC promoter called TARE (TGF-beta/activin response element).
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
Other Notes

Members of the TGF-beta superfamily of signalling molecules work by activating transmembrane receptors with phosphorylating activity (serine-threonine kinase receptors); these in turn phosphorylate and activate SMADs, a class of signal transducers. Activins are growth factors that act primarily through Smad2
