JCRBNo 1435, lot number 11032011. This line is a derivative of the WIL-2 lymphoblast cell line. The cells are heterozygous at the thymidine (TK) kinase locus and can be used to quantitatively detect forward mutations at 3 loci.
Preparation Note
RPMI 1640 (R0883) + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum + 2mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 1.8 mMolar Sodium Pyruvate(NaP) (S8636). Cryopreserve cells in culture medium with cells with 10% sterile-filtered Fetal Bovine Serum and 10% Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
This cell line was developed and has historically been shown to be successfully cultured in horse serum, but modern lots of this line have been optimized for and are supplied in fetal bovine serum.

Dilute cell in fresh medium at 0.1- 1.5 x 105 cells per ml.
Other Notes
Cultures from PHE Culture Collections and supplied by Sigma are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line. Please view the Terms & Conditions of Supply for more information.
If use of this culture results in a scientific publication, it should be cited in the publication as: TK6 (IVGT) (ECACC 13051501)
This cell line is part of the European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures (ECACC), an international repository managed by the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
