Human cervix carcinoma
This cell line has been adapted for growth in suspension. Cells support growth of arboviruses, measles virus, poliovirus 1, adenovirus 3 and VSV (Indiana strain). This cell line has been found to be indistinguishable from Hela by STR PCR DNA profiling. Therefore, the cell line should be considered as derived from HeLa. Ethnicity: Black.
Preparation Note
EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Maintain cultures between 2-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Cells grow in suspension and may form clusters.
