Biochem/physiol Actions
Although originally described as a colon adenocarcinoma line established from a 78 year old female, DNA fingerprinting has shown this line to be a derivative of HT-29. HT29 was isolated from a primary colon adenocarcinoma in a 44 year old Caucasian female. The cells produce carcinoembryonic antigen and are tumorigenic in xenogeneic animals. They have been used in studies of anti-tumour agents.
