Recombinant complex glycoprotein production, Baculovirus infection.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Saltmarsh caterpillar Estigmena acrea (Subclone 4)
This cell line can be used to produce complex glycoproteins, and has been demonstrated as having more extensive N-glycosylation compared to other insect cell lines used for the expression of recombinant proteins. Ea.4 is susceptible to infection by Baculovirus, which can be used as a vector for recombinant protein synthesis.
Preparation Note
Maintain cultures between 2x100,000 and 1x1,000,000 cells/ml. Doubling time 36 hours. Grow at 26°C. Freeze in 90% HI-FBS plus 10% glycerol.
