General description
DURAN® GLS 80® wide mouth bottles have become the gold standard of multi-functional laboratory bottles since their introduction in 1972. The protect+ safety-coated version of the bottles combines the best of both worlds: virtually inert USP/EP Type I borosilicate glass 3.3 on the inside and a protective safety plastic layer on the outside. The bottles are moulded from high-purity, clear glass or externally ambered clear glass that is then coated with a translucent polyamide PA 12 coating to reduce the hazards of broken glass and liquid splashes in the event of breakage. A combination of high-performance materials and robust design provides a cost-effective usable life. The bottles feature an easy-to-read graduated volume scale. There is a Retrace Code printed on each bottle for manufacturing lot traceability. The ambered DURAN® glass bottle versions ensure that light sensitive contents are protected from the effects of photodegradation. The protection against ultra-violet light meets international USP/EP standards. All the protect+ coated bottles are supplied with push-on protective covers to protect the inside of the bottles from contamination during distribution. Matching screw closures and pouring rings can be ordered separately. Available in a wide range of nominal bottle capacities from 25 mL to 5 litres, and neck sizes GL 25 to GLS 80® wide mouth.

- The protect+ safety coating provides scratch, leak* and splinter* protection (* only applies to bottles 2000 ml and less).
- UV protection USP <660> (Spectral Transmission) and EP (3.2.1) compliant. Less than 10% spectral transmission between 290 nm and 450 nm.
- The only external application of the amber colour and safety coating ensures that internal surfaces have standard DURAN® glass properties.
- Supplied as safety coated glass bottle only with a HDPE push-on dust cover. The screw caps and pouring rings must be ordered separately.
- Protective plastic coating provides an enhanced and safer grip without any stickyness.
- The 25 ml has a specially shaped glass edge for improved pouring out whereby an additional plastic pouring ring is not required.
- Safe storage and shipping of bulk, high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs) powders.
- Coating process does not use any volatile organic compounds VOCs or isocyanates.
