General description
XPOT (exportin T) is a tRNA nuclear export receptor found in vertebrates. This protein shuttles between the cytoplasm and nucleus. It belongs to the importin-β family, and has a distant relation to Los1p protein found in yeast.
Application
Anti-Exportin T antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Exportin-T acts as a specific mediator of tRNA export. Exportin-T is a RanGTP-binding, importin β-related factor with predominantly nuclear localization that shuttles rapidly between nucleus and cytoplasm. It interacts with nuclear pore complexes as well. Exportin-t binds tRNA directly and with high affinity. It is responsible for majority of tRNA export in cells and plays an essential role in the transport of tRNA. It is associated with intracellular tRNA trafficking and is in turn associated with discrete changes in the composition of cellular cytoplasmic multi-protein complexes containing tRNA.

Vigilin is a ubiquitous multi heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) K homologous (KH)-domain protein. Here we demonstrate that purified recombinant human vigilin binds tRNA molecules with high affinity, although with limited specificity. Nuclear microinjection experiments revealed for the first time that

Exportin-t (Xpo-t) is a vertebrate nuclear export receptor for tRNAs that binds tRNA cooperatively with GTP-loaded Ran. Xpo-t antibodies are shown to efficiently block tRNA export from Xenopus oocyte nuclei suggesting that it is responsible for at least the majority

Transport of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells is mediated by nuclear import and export receptors. The receptors identified to date are members of a family of Ran GTPase-binding proteins whose founding member is importin-beta. Interaction between
