Gene Information

human ... JTV1(7965)

General description

The JTV1 gene is located on chromosome 7p22 flanked by two genes, HRI and PMS2. JTV1 and HRI overlap slightly and are arranged in a tail-to-tail fashion. JTV1 and PMS2 are separated by approximately 200 base pairs and are arranged head-to-head. JTV1 is transcribed in the opposite direction compared to HRI and PMS2. The function of the JTV1 gene product is unknown. (provided by RefSeq)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Aminoacyl tRNA synthetase complex interacting multifunctional protein 2 (AIMP2) is a scaffold protein which functions as a tumor suppressor. It stimulates the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of FUSE-binding protein (FUBP1), which is a transcription activator. AIMP2 activates tumor suppressor p53 and stimulates apoptosis. The assembly of macromolecular tRNA synthetase complex depends on AIMP2.

AIMP2/p38 is a multifunctional tumor suppressor that normally resides in the cytosol as a scaffold protein of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex (MSC). One of the tumor-suppressive functions of AIMP2 is to facilitate ubiquitin-mediated degradation of FUSE-binding protein (FBP, FUBP1), a

AIMP2/p38 is a scaffolding protein critical for the assembly of the macromolecular tRNA synthetase complex. Moreover, AIMP2 harbors anti-proliferative activity and promotes cell death as a proapototic factor. A splicing variant of AIMP2 lacking exon 2 (AIMP2-DX2) is specifically generated
