Biochem/physiol Actions

Hexosaminidase subunit alpha (HEXA) degrades the carbohydrate moieties of glycoproteins, glycolipids and proteoglycans. Mutations in the α chain of HEXA impairs folding, trafficking and enzyme assembly. Lysosomal β-hexosaminidase α subunit is downregulated in prostate cancer cells due to hypermethylation of gene promoter.

Disclaimer

Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.

General description

Hexosaminidase subunit alpha (HEXA) gene is located on the human chromosome 15q23-q24. HEXA is found to be associated with the external leaflet of plasma membrane of human fibroblasts. α and β subunits of HEXA have 57% of similarity in their amino acid sequences.

Immunogen

HEXA (AAH18927, 1 a.a. ~ 529 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.
