Application
Testosterone has been used as a substrate for UDP-glucuronyltransferase based drug metabolism assays using microsome-encapsulation techniques.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Androgens direct the development of the male phenotype during embryogenesis and at puberty. Testosterone is an androgen that is secreted by the testis. This hormone is converted to dihydrotestosterone in the target tissues where it appears to mediate several biological functions.

In this cross-sectional study on 140 subjects, several testosterone and epitestosterone metabolites have been analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry associated with stable isotope dilution, a technique requested for doping analysis in general, and detection of exogenous testosterone supply in particular.
