Gene Information

human ... IL2(3558)

General description

Interleukin 2 (IL2) is synthesised by immunoregulatory T helper cells. IL2 consists of three subunits, in which the beta subunit is critical for receptor mediated signalling. IL2 gene is located on human chromosome 4q27.

Immunogen

IL2 (NP_000577, 21 a.a. ~ 153 a.a) recombinant protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin 2 (IL2) promotes the development of suppressor T regulatory cells. IL2 plays a crucial role in antitumor immunity. IL2 destabilises adherens junctions, and cytoskeletal reorganization, causing increased endothelial cell permeability.
