Imazamox Metabolite M720H001 is a metabolite of the imidazolinone herbicide― imazamox, used widely against the postemergence control of annual and perennial grasses, and broad-leafed weeds in legume fields. It inhibits the activity of the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme and interferes with the synthesis of essential amino acids.
According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011 of 25th May 2011, imazamox is approved for use in the European Union (EU) as an active substance in plant protection products, following the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. A maximum residue limit of 0.01 mg/kg to 0.3 mg/kg is set for its presence in products of plant and animal origin, according to the Reg. (EU) 2021/2202.
