General description

Benzenesulfonic acid is a strong, highly water-soluble organic acid commonly used in industrial processes as a catalyst and intermediate. As an impurity, it is frequently associated with the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and surfactants, often originating from the sulfonation of benzene with sulfuric acid. It is considered a potential genotoxic impurity (PGI) in drug substances.
This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ.
