Sample preparation:

Place 25 mL sample in a 600-mL beaker along with 5 mL65 % nitric acid and 5 mL Perhydrol®, mix and slowly evaporate, almost to dryness, on a heating plate. Dissolve the residue in water for analysis and transfer to a 25-mL volumetric flask.
Measure the pH immediately using Universal indicator strips 0 - 14 and adjust to pH 3 - 7, if necessary, using 1 mol/l sodium hydroxide solution. Only now make up to the mark with water for analysis and mix.

Analysis:

Determine with the above mentioned test kits.

Calculation:

Nickel (total) content in mg/l Ni = analysis value in mg/l Ni
