Instructors

Headshot of Spencer Keilich, Ph.D.

Spencer Keilich

Spencer Keilich, Ph.D. is a R&D scientist at MilliporeSigma. He studied Biomedical Science and Immunology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine focusing on the impacts of influenza on older adults and vaccination. He performed development and validation research at Quantitative Cell Diagnostics (QCDx) investigating circulating tumor cells and rare cell events. Since joining MilliporeSigma in 2021, his primary works have focused on novel detection technologies and cell-based assays.

Bryan Simmons

Bryan Simons completed his PhD in Toxicology at the University of Montana in 2015. In 2017, he joined the Labcorp – Madison Immunology & Immunotoxicology group as a subject matter expert in flow cytometry and cell-based assays. Since 2022, he has led a team of SMEs focused on developing and validating cell-based assays for investigating immunotoxicity and therapeutic potential of new drug products ranging from large molecules to cell and gene therapies.

Renata Varnaite

Renata Varnaite completed her PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institute, Sweden in 2022. During her research studies, she utilized FluoroSpot assays to measure human T-cell and B-cell responses to infections and vaccines. Having joined Mabtech in 2023 she helps Mabtech’s customers to effectively apply ELISpot/FluoroSpot technology in different therapeutic areas, from infectious disease vaccines to cell and gene therapies.

Sylvia Janetzki

Sylvia Janetzki, MD, is President and CEO of ZellNet Consulting and one of the leading authorities on ELISpot and FluoroSpot assay development, validation, and standardization. In collaboration with the Cancer Research Institute, Dr. Janetzki established international proficiency panels for ELISpot, multimer staining, and ICS—efforts that resulted in widely adopted harmonization guidelines across the field. She is a core member of the MIATA initiative, promoting transparent and structured reporting of immune‑monitoring data. Her scientific contributions include numerous peer‑reviewed publications, book chapters, and a comprehensive reference book on ELISpot. Dr. Janetzki earned her MD from Humboldt University in Berlin and completed postdoctoral training in Immunology at Fordham University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
