Understanding GRAS: Navigating the Future of Food Ingredients

WEBINAR

Join us for an engaging webinar on GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), a critical framework for qualifying food ingredients in the USA. With thousands of additives, flavors, and other ingredients classified as GRAS, this system has historically ensured consumer safety and confidence in the food supply. However, there is a growing movement to reassess GRAS, advocating for more robust and rigorous controls.

In this session, we will cover:

  • The origins of the GRAS designation and how it differs from the food additive approval process
  • Insights into the FDA's regulatory oversight of GRAS ingredients and the implications for food manufacturers and consumers
  • Current criticisms and challenges facing the existing GRAS process
  • Potential reforms to GRAS and their implications for food safety and industry practices.

This webinar is ideal for food industry professionals and regulatory affairs specialists. Join us to gain valuable insights into the future of GRAS and its impact on food safety.
