BSTFA + 1% TMCS（三甲基硅基）溶于乙酸乙酯、乙腈和二氯甲烷溶剂中的情况下，可用于通过气相色谱-质谱联用技术(GC-MS)进行的甾体激素17a-乙炔雌醇(EE2)硅基化反应。此外，其还可用于内源性2-单甘油酯（存在于与大麻素受体结合的犬肠道中）的硅基化。
