General description
组织蛋白酶B基因映射至人类染色体8p23.1。它是一种溶酶体半胱氨酸，252个氨基酸分布在两条链上，与大鼠肝脏序列对应。它具有盘状结构，分为两个域，即氨基末端的左侧′L′域和羧基末端的右侧′R′域。
Application
来自人体肝脏的组织蛋白酶B已被用于以下情形：
- 在筛选组织蛋白酶B抑制剂试验中用作阳性对照物
- 细胞壁伸展（扩张蛋白活性）试验
- 显微注射人包皮成纤维细胞，测试诱导凋亡效果
Biochem/physiol Actions
来自人体肝脏的组织蛋白酶B在食管腺癌(EAC)中高度表达。它可以减少肝脏炎症和纤维化，对治疗肝脏疾病具有潜在效果。
发现切割前体蛋白1和前体蛋白11，并诱导洋地黄皂苷通透的细胞凋亡。
已经发现组织蛋白酶B切割前痉挛1和前痉挛11，并诱导洋地黄皂苷通透的细胞凋亡。组织蛋白酶B从细胞质向细胞核的转移有助于胆盐诱导大鼠肝细胞凋亡。诱导细胞凋亡后12-24小时，PC12细胞组织蛋白酶B水平显著下降。
