Biochem/physiol Actions

油菜甾醇是一种植物甾醇，结构与胆固醇相似。植物甾醇与胆固醇竞争，减少掺入胶束的胆固醇含量从而减少其吸收。据报道菜籽甾醇可以减缓动脉粥样硬化的进展。脑脊液中菜籽甾醇级别可能作为阿尔茨海默病进展的预后因子。
油菜甾醇是在菜籽油和菜籽油中发现的一种植物甾醇；也存在于海洋藻类和贝类中。菜籽甾醇已被证明能抑制固醇 δ 24 -还原酶，一种参与哺乳动物胆固醇生物合成途径的酶。
