General description

Disperse Red 1 Acrylate (DR1A) is widely utilized in advanced material science due to its photoresponsive and polymerizable properties. The acrylate group enables radical polymerization, making DR1A an excellent chromophore for incorporation into acrylic resins, UV-curable coatings, and photonic materials. It is commonly applied in nonlinear optical (NLO) devices, surface relief gratings, and photo-patternable polymers for data storage and holography. Additionally, DR1A-based copolymers are used in smart coatings, sensors, and optoelectronic components, where its trans–cis photoisomerization imparts light-induced functionality. Its compatibility with block copolymers and hybrid nanostructures also supports applications in plasmon-enhanced photonics and high-performance coatings for electronics and industrial surfaces.

Application

  • This research uses Disperse Red 1 acrylate in liquid crystal monomers to achieve specific voxel orientations, impacting materials science in robotics and sensors (Guo et al., 2021).
  • The study investigates ink formulations that include Disperse Red 1 acrylate for textile printing applications, demonstrating advances in fabric processing (Song et al., 2018).
