General description

Nafion 117 solution can be used in the formation of nafion membranes with properties like good water uptake (~27%) and ionic conductivity (~1.23 × 10−2 Ω−1 cm−1). Its current density at 600V for the polymer electrolyte fuel cells is ~640 mA cm−2.

Application

Nafion 117 solution can be used for a variety of applications such as:

    The exact composition of the Nafion® 117 solution is considered proprietary by the manufacturer.  However, based on the data available, the composition is believed to be similar to the following: approximately 5% Nafion® Perfluorinated Ion-Exchange powder, 15-25% water, 1-5% methanol, with the remainder being a 1:1 mixture of 1-propanol and 2-propanol.  

  6. Is Product 70160, Nafion® 117 solution, cationic or anionic?

    Nafion® 117 is cationic (H+).

  7. How can I dilute Product 70160, Nafion® 117 solution?

    Dilution of the Nafion® 117 solution in a 50:50 mixture of 1-propanol/2-propanol is preferred.
