Application

NanoFabTx RGD Lipid Mix is a ready-to-use curated lipid mixture containing rationally selected lipids and step by step instructions for synthesizing RGD functionalized liposomes or lipid nanoparticles. RGD is a peptide composed of arginine, glycine, and aspartic acid (Arg-Gly-Asp).

RGD has high affinity to integrins (including alpha V beta 3) which are overexpressed on cancer cells such as glioma, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer to name a few. RGD conjugated lipids can be used to prepare liposomes to achieve targeted delivery of the anti-cancer agents to the cells which overexpress these receptors. The cells will internalize the RGD containing peptide via integrin-mediated endocytosis. As a result, the targeted liposomes avoid off target effects, a major side effect of many cancer therapies.

The RGD-functionalized liposomes synthesized from the NanoFabTx RGD Lipid Mix enable users to 1) encapuslate a wide variety of small molecules and 2) selectively target cells which overexpress RGD-binding integrins, such as cancer cells, without the need for lengthy trial-and-error optimization.

Features and Benefits

  • A ready-to-use lipid blend for the synthesis of RGD targeted liposomes
  • Step-by-step protocols (extrusion, microfluidics) developed and tested by our formulation scientists
  • Flexible synthesis tool to create uniform and reproducible liposomes
  • RGD ligand enables targeted drug delivery
Comprehensive protocols for liposome synthesis are included:
  • A lipid film hydration and extrusion protocol
  • A microfluidics protocol using commercial platforms or syringe pumps
The microfluidics protocol included with this product uses the NanoFabTx device kit (911593). These kits come with the microfluidics chips, fittings, and tubing required to get started with microfluidics-based synthesis (compatible microfluidics system or syringe pump required).

For more information, please refer to the protocol under the Protocol section of this page.
