Diethyl chlorophosphate is a general reagent to synthesize diethylphosphate esters from alcohols, as in the synthesis of organophosphorus nerve agent mimics, chiral phosphine complexes for preparing copper alkoxide phosphine catalysts and the synthesis of chalcogenorhodamine bearing phosphonic acid sensitizers.
