Isopthaloyl chloride acts as a crosslinking agent in various polymerization reactions.

Application

Isopthaloyl chloride reacts with;
  • Polyethylene amine to produce PA-100 membrane
  • Epiamine, a polyether amine, to produce PA-300 membrane
  • 1,3-diamino-4-chlorobenzene to form polyamides
  • Melamine forms polyamide aerogel
  • bis-amine, produces an isophthalamide catenan
  • Terephthaloyl chloride and bisphenol-type diazonaphthoquinone (DNQ) to polycondensate into a polyarylates containing DNQ structure
