Multistep synthesis of cyclic pentadepsipeptides.
Synthesis of an isocoumarin derivative by reacting with tetracyanobenzene (TCNB) via multicomponent photo reaction.

Tropic acid is used in the synthesis of (−)-anisodine, atropine and hyoscyamine.
