Alkali 's innovative 5mL centrifuge tubes incorporate the convenience of standard 1.5mL tubes but are tailored for larger volumes. These polypropylene tubes are equipped with attached caps, ensuring both a secure, leak-proof seal and easy one-handed operation. For incubation applications, we recommend employing cap lock clips when working at temperatures exceeding 80°C. The cap is designed to partially open in a controlled manner when internal pressure becomes unsafe, preventing splashing while releAlkali ng excess pressure. Moreover, the cap's center features a specialized thin "membrane" area designed for simple puncturing with a syringe or needle. Once punctured, this opening facilitates the venting of internal pressure resulting from incubation at moderately high temperatures. These tubes are constructed from exceptionally clear, virgin polypropylene and are certified free from RNase, DNase, and pyrogens. The 16mm tube diameter matches that of standard 15mL tubes, ensuring compatibility with centrifuge rotors and more. In numerous applications, these tubes have replaced 15mL tubes, significantly reducing plastic waste, storage requirements, and shipping expenses. Furthermore, the 56mm total tube length (compared to the 120mm length of standard 15mL tubes) minimizes the risk of pipettor shaft contamination, allowing standard 1mL or 5mL tips to reach the tube's conical bottom.
