Application

Brain PS has been used in lipid standard material preparation, reporter assay and in the preparation of liposomes.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylserine is a lipid. It helps to increase the cognitive performance of rats and humans, having different levels of age-dependent memory problems or probable Alzheimer disease. It has the ability to block degeneration of the cholinergic neuronal population of the basal forebrain of aged rats. 90% of the phosphatidylserine decarboxylase activity is linked with mitochondria.
