General description

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-2000 (18:0 PEG2000 PE) is conjugate, covalently attached to polyethylene glycol (PEG2000). It forms a stable micelle of 180kDa with phosphoethanolamine as hydrophobic core and hydrophilic PEG2000 as outer micelle surface.

Application

18:0 PEG2000 PE may be used in the nickel resin functionalization of quantum dots. It may also be used in liposome preparation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-2000 (18:0 PEG2000 PE) is an effective drug carrier and is biocompatible. PEG stabilizes and protects the micelle from phagocytic system. The use of PEG as a conjugate with phospholipids enables improved liposome preparation and effective drug encapsulation.
