General description

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is a key cytokine produced primarily by T cells and natural killer (NK) cells that plays a vital role in the immune response. It is essential for enhancing the immune system′s ability to fight infections, particularly by activating macrophages and promoting the differentiation of T cells into Th1 cells. IFN-γ also has antiviral properties and is involved in the regulation of various immune and inflammatory processes, making it a critical factor in both innate and adaptive immunity.

Application

Inflammatory Disease / Immune Response / Autoimmune Disease

Features and Benefits

  • Ultra-Sensitive Detection of IFN-γ: Enables precise quantification of low-level IFN-γ, critical for studying early immune activation, cytokine signaling, and therapeutic response.
  • Application in Autoimmune and Inflammatory Disease Research: Supports mechanistic studies of inflammation and immune regulation, including diseases like multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Castleman disease.
  • High Precision and Recovery: Intra-assay CV <15%, inter-assay CV <20%, and recovery rates of 98% in plasma and 104% in serum. Ensures reliable and reproducible data, critical for longitudinal studies, and biomarker validation.
  • Specificity for Human IFN-γ: Provides accurate quantification of IFN-γ, supporting mechanistic studies of Th1 responses, macrophage activation, and MHC expression.

Analysis Note

  • Sensitivity: LLOQ 30 fg/mL* (SMCxPRO® Instrument)
  • Standard Curve Range: 20-25,000 fg/mL
  • Intra-assay CV: <15%
  • Inter-assay CV: <20%
  • Linearity: Serum: 96% Plasma: 100%
  • Recovery: Serum: 104% Plasma: 98%
*Indicative LLOQ created from average of 14 independent in house runs, where >80% met same value defined with CV & Recovery +/- 20%. Refer to CoA for lot specific performance.

Other Notes

Although IFN-γ was detectable in non-human primate, mouse, rat, canine and feline samples, the assay has not been verified for these species.
