General description

Clostridium perfringens selective supplement contains the antibiotic D-Cycloserine that inhibits the accompanying bacterial flora and causes the developing colonies to remain smaller. It also reduces the diffusion and the disturbing blackening around the Clostridium perfringens colonies. 4-Methylumbelliferylphosphate (MUP) is a fluorogenic substrate for the alkaline and acid phosphatase. The acid phosphatase is a high specific indicator for Clostridium perfringens, and it splits the fluorogenic substrate MUP. The fluorescence of resulting product, 4-methylumbelliferone, can be identified in long wave UV-light, which suggests the presence of Clostridium perfringens.

Application

Clostridium perfringens selective supplement is used for the enrichment of TSC-Agar (Base) (1.11972) during the enumeration of Clostridium perfringens in food products and other materials.
