General description

The MacConkey Broth contains bile salts that inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria but support the growth of most gram-negative bacteria. Degradation of lactose to acids by bacteria induce a color change in the medium from violet to yellow as indicated by the pH indicator bromocresol purple, which shows reduced inhibition compared to neutral red.

Application

MacConkey Broth is used for the enrichment of Enterobacteriaceae and the detection of Escherichia coli in pharmaceutical products.

Features and Benefits

Our ready to use media provide the highest level of quality and testing confidence. They have been formulated and tested to meet the pharmacopoeia requirements. Our media are manufactured in an ISO 9001, environmentally controlled production center. Each lot undergoes a stringent quality control (QC) procedure, including pH, sterility and growth promotion tests. Our manufacturing approach ensures the highest level of clarity for our media and rinsing fluids, therefore improving accuracy and significantly reducing the risk of incorrect interpretation and false results.
