General description

A ferric porphyrin complex that catalytically isomerizes peroxynitrite to nitrate both in vivo and in vitro. Hence, serves as a selective peroxynitrite scavenger and decomposition catalyst. Provides cytoprotection against peroxynitrite (EC50 = 5 µM). Does not complex with nitric oxide and exhibits minimal SOD mimetic activity.
