Native haptoglobin from human plasma. A hemoglobin-binding acute-phase protein that promotes cholesterol crystallization and is found in human plasma at 82 to 236 mg per deciliter. It is a tetramer composed of α- and β-polypeptide chains.

Preparation Note
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 months at -20°C.
Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
