Major phosphorus compound in plants that chelates with a variety of di- and trivalent cations. Reported to suppress damaging iron-catalyzed redox reactions.

Major phosphorus compound in plants. Chelates with a variety of di- and trivalent cations. Inhibits growth and induces differentiation of PC-3 human prostate cancer cells. Also reported to suppress damaging iron-catalyzed redox reactions.
