General description

A commonly used electrophoretic buffer for the separation of DNA fragments. When diluted the 1X solution contains 89 mM Tris base, 89 mM boric acid, and 2 mM EDTA, pH 8.1-8.5.
Each pack provides an adequate amount of material to make 1 L of 10X concentrate that can be diluted to a 1X solution containing 89 mM Tris, 89 mM boric acid, 2 mM EDTA, pH ~8.3.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, refrigerate (4°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 2 months in the refrigerator (4°C). Discard the buffer solution if any growth appears.
Reconstitute each package in ~750-800 ml H₂O and mix until completely dissolved. Add enough H₂O to bring the final volume to 1 liter. The resulting solution is a 10X concentrate that can be further diluted to 1X as needed.
