General description

Prenylated Rab acceptor 1 family protein 2 (PRAF2), or JM4, is a novel 19-kDa transmembrane protein belonging to the PRA1 family. It is highly expressed in the brain, and has been shown to be enriched in synaptic vesicles. PRAF2 is also relatively abundant in the spleen, small intestine, lung, pancreas, as well as various tumors affecting the ovary, breast, and colon. Recent studies have identified PRAF2 as a potential marker for neuroblastoma. Like other PRAF1 proteins, it is localized to the golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, and vesicular structures. The precise role of PRAF2 is not yet clear, but studies suggest that it may play a role in cellular transport processes.

Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
