NELF-E (Negative elongation factor E) is a main component of NELF human transcription factor complex which associates with DRB sensitivity-inducing factor to stifle transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase II. NELF-E is an RNA-binding protein that includes arginine-aspartic acid dipeptide repeats. NELF-E RNA-binding activity is essential for NELF to function.
