Gene Information
human ... WTAP(9589)
General description
Pre-mRNA-splicing regulator WTAP (UniProt Q15007; also known as Female-lethal (2)D homolog, hFL(2)D, Wilms tumor 1-associating protein, WT1-associated protein) is encoded by the WTAP (also known as KIAA0105) gene (Gene ID 9589) in human. WTAP is an ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein that is localized throughout the nucleoplasm and in speckles and partially co-localizes with splicing factors. A mouse homolog has also been reported that shares 96% sequence identity. WTAP regulates G2/M cell-cycle transition by binding to the 3′ UTR of CCNA2, which enhances its stability. WTAP knockdown is shown to induce G2 accumulation, which is partially rescued by adenoviral overexpression of cyclin A2. WTAP-null mice exhibit proliferative failure with early embryonic death. WTAP is also reported to be an oncogenic protein in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its increased expression has been linked to chemoresistance in AML. Ref: Horiuchi, K., et al. (2006), Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 103, 17278-17283. Bansal, H., et al. (2014). Leukemia 28, 1171-1174.
Specificity
This polyclonal antibody targets an internal sequence within the N-terminal half of human WTAP.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to an internal sequence within the N-terminal half of human WTAP.
Application
Anti-WTAP, Cat. No. ABE555, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets WTAP and has been tested in Western Blotting.
